Pelé and Oscar TVC for 100PLUS

We took a welcome step from tarmac to turf in April to complete our biggest production to date with the delivery of a series of football commercials for ambitious soft-drinks brand, 100Plus. The recently launched campaign has already generated over 1.6 million views on Youtube and will be rolled out fully in the coming months.
Featuring two of football’s biggest stars in Pelé and Oscar and shot over three days in Barcelona (where we’re much more familiar with the F1 circuit), the production provided a stern test of our logistical skills and linguistic skills, employing a crew of 65, some 48 footballers, 130 extras and at least three on-set languages including English, Spanish and Portuguese.
In the best football traditions, we called on our top Spanish director Hugo Prats and a roster of local production galacticos to extract maximum value from both budget and exchange rate. Good weather, the Olympic Stadium and 130 flag-waving extras completed the teamsheet.
YOU’VE MADE HEADLINES BUT HAVE YOU MADE HISTORY?
Working from an initial idea supplied by clients JWT Malaysia and agency PRISM, we developed with Hugo the script, visuals and tone of the story, which followed the progress of a young player (Oscar) from the dusty sand-pitches of his youth to the towering temples of professional football where, having made his name, he’s reminded by the legendary Pele to ‘stay thirsty.’
Among the bigger challenges was to cast and rehearse the Oscar look-alikes playing the Chelsea star early in his career. There was also the matter of finding three squads of senior players to stand in convincingly for his team-mates but all proved possible in a city where football is such a significant cultural export.
"Working with two stars (Pele and Oscar Jr) across 3 time zones (Malaysia, London and Barcelona), we had only hours to execute all campaign content. Patrick and his team helped us pull off the impossible with amazing precision and ease"
