Commissioned by: Samsung & Red Bull Media House

Objective: To produce an attention-grabbing action sequence for trade show and in-store demonstration of the exceptional colours and contrast of Samsung’s new range of HDR QLED TV’s.

Approach: In partnership with Red Bull Media House and stunt performers Robbie Maddison, Jason Paul and Felix Georgii, we designed a chase sequence that allowed the bright colours of the exotic Moroccan locations to be reproduced to best effect. The sequence started in the narrow, blue-rinsed streets of Chefchaouen, moved on to the grounds of the 5 Star Palais Namaskar in Marrakesh before concluding in the old port of Essaouira.

Directed by Daniel Benmayor, working with DoP Juanmi Azpiroz, the action was captured on two 8K RED Heliums, 1 SONY F65 and a 4K Phantom Flex, including the memorable sequence in which Maddison leaves the beach to skim across the harbour waves on his specially adapted dirtbike.

As the accompanying stills attest, the content is stacked with captivating images, from the opening duel between Maddison and free-runner Paul across the terracotta-tiled rooftops to wakeboarder Georgii’s dramatic arrival in the once-still waters of an ornamental garden.

The distinctive locations and the production schedule allowed little margin for error but despite the loss of one day to unseasonal rain, preparation for the stunts, the stunts themselves and additional shooting were all completed ontime and on-budget.
